Your expedition

Pick a place. Find your own reason to stay.

World Explorer is not a tour you watch from above. It is a place you enter: choose where to begin, move through it as your own character, notice what is there, and decide what matters to you.

01 / ARRIVE

Choose anywhere

Search for a real destination or begin where you are curious—from a nearby street to another continent.

02 / MOVE

Explore your way

Walk at street level, drive farther, launch a boat, take to the air, or pull back to the living globe.

03 / DISCOVER

Pay attention

Look for wildlife, plants, geology, metal finds, landmarks, changing weather, and other field opportunities.

04 / CONTINUE

Make it yours

Build a field journal, earn trust with companions, save places, create rooms, contribute edits, and return.

Current gameplay

One world, seen from where you stand.

Begin at the globe, arrive at street level, and change how you travel without leaving your expedition.

Start anywhere

Choose a real location, then arrive in the rendered world.

Search for a place, enter coordinates, or pick a featured destination. World Explorer brings you into the same connected experience for walking, driving, field work, building, and flight.

  • Move between ground, water, air, and planetary exploration.
  • Record discoveries and continue building your Explorer story.
  • Return to saved places, persistent builds, and shared rooms.
One connected world

More depth, without becoming ten separate apps.

The systems are organized around what you are trying to do. Travel changes your point of view. Field work deepens a place. Creation and multiplayer let your time there leave a trace.

Explore and move

Search the globe, enter a location, then walk, drive, boat, fly, orbit, or visit the Moon without leaving the connected world.

Investigate and collect

Use a field journal and activity-specific tools to study wildlife, plants, rocks, landmarks, and finds tied to place.

Create and share

Build rooms and objects, contribute reviewed world edits, preserve memories, and explore together through multiplayer.

Open access

Explore first. Decide what matters later.

The world is available without a payment decision at the door. An account keeps multiplayer and persistent progress together. Donations are optional and support hosting and continued development.

Free exploration

Start in the browser, learn the controls in context, and use the core world before creating an account.

  • Map and location search
  • Core traversal modes
  • Field discovery activities
  • Live Earth and world systems

Support the world

If World Explorer becomes a place you value, you can help keep it online. Support never gates the core experience.

Before you enter

Useful answers, plainly stated.

Is this a game?

It is an open exploration experience with game systems, but no single required storyline. Your goals can be travel, discovery, collection, creation, learning, or spending time with other explorers.

Does it use real locations?

Yes. World Explorer builds its world from geographic data and open real-world feeds, then adds playable systems and generated detail where the source data does not provide it.

Does it run on mobile?

Yes. Mobile includes touch controls and field activities. A desktop browser is currently recommended for the highest rendering quality and the largest city scenes.

Do I need an account?

No account is required for core exploration. Sign in when you want multiplayer and persistent account-linked progress.

Can I contribute?

Yes. Signed-in explorers can create staged World Explorer overlay drafts for places, buildings, and interiors, then submit them for moderator review. Approved overlays are published without overwriting provider data or OpenStreetMap.
